What was the "spark" that got your organization involved in QF?
Our actual involvement with AAHSA as well as the CCAC accreditation we have undergone for two facilities since 1988.

Where/how did you learn about QF?
At a meeting of the AAHSA House of Delegates.

Describe the process of getting your Board's support for QF.
Our board chair attends all AAHSA conferences and actually spearheaded the support for the Quality First initiative at PresbyHomes.

Have you visited the Quality First website?
Everything was helpful, and I utilized the material in presenting PresbyHomes' program at the PANPHA Board meeting for several months.

Does your organization have a Quality First leader ... an individual or committee?
The leader is PresbyHome's Vice President for Administration and the committees are integrated with the program throughout the administration.

If your organization completed the QF Self-Study, was it helpful?
The Self-Study allowed us to develop action plans in each community where individual needs were more focused.

If your organization completed the QF Providers' Checklist, was it helpful?
Yes, but it depends on the site if the checklist was completed.

What has been the most challenging aspect of QF for your organization?
Since we are a diverse, multi-site organization, it has been difficult because every facility is very unique and has different challenges.

What has been the most beneficial aspect of QF for your organization?
It has allowed us to review all the quality initiatives that we have been conducting for years including our corporate compliance program and our risk management program.

Would you say that you have been able to integrate QF into your ongoing operations, or is it viewed as "something else to do"?
Quality First helped us recognize the value of many things we were already doing, including external resident and employee satisfaction surveys.
