Continuous Quality Improvement: Risk Management

Diverse Dangers
Home and community-based services providers face their own challenges in risk management.

CMS Survey & Certification Emergency Preparedness Web Site
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Survey and Certification (S&C) Emergency Preparedness web site provides state survey agencies, health care providers and others with emergency preparedness information. The site includes tools such as checklists and reports, and provides links to other resources.

AAHSA/Aon Quality Institute
AAHSA and Aon developed this Web-based risk management tool to help members move forward on their Quality First journeys. AAHSA/Casualty insureds are eligible to receive a 10% credit on their general liability/professional liability premium after they have successfully met the requirements in completing the course.

CARF Addresses Risk Management
A recent issue of CARF’s newsletter features articles, worksheets and editorials providers can use to predict and prevent risk in their organizations.

Updating Your Disaster Plan
The book includes practical post 9/11 advice for aging-services providers on emergency preparedness before, during and after a disaster.

Risk Management Association Offers Useful Tools
As a nonprofit, the Nonprofit Risk Management Center is uniquely positioned to both understand and respond to questions with practical, affordable suggestions for controlling risks that threaten a nonprofit's ability to accomplish its mission. (The organization does not sell insurance or endorse organizations that do.)

CCAC's New Risk Management Standard Can Reduce Exposure
Providers now have a framework to help insulate residents, staff, volunteers, trustees and families from exposure from risk.
