Eli S. Feldman, president and CEO of Metropolitan Jewish Health System, Brooklyn, N.Y., is the 2007 recipient of AAHSA's Award of Honor, our highest award. We are honoring Feldman because of his long-standing leadership, vision and creativity in the integrated health care field as well as his commitment to AAHSA, the New York Association of Homes and Services for the Aging and other organizations. HUD to Renew All 2007 Project-Based Rental Assistance Contracts
Thanks to Congress, housing providers should have their PRAC contracts renewed without delay. That's because Congress recently revised HUD's operating plan for fiscal year 2007 and included the funding needed to renew all expected contracts for this fiscal year. Recognize Your Organization's Rising Nurse Leader
How? Nominate him or her for the Institute for the Future of Aging Services' 2nd Annual Joan Anne McHugh Award for Leadership in Long-term Care Nursing. This award recognizes nurses who provide excellent clinical care, demonstrate leadership and are committed to the long-term care nursing field. Nurses who work for AAHSA-member organizations and meeting other eligibility criteria may be nominated. The winner will receive a $500 personal and $1,000 professional development award and national recognition at AAHSA's 2007 Annual Meeting & Exposition. All entries must be postmarked by July 13. Report Offers Answers to Important Quality Questions
The National Commission for Quality Long-Term Care, an independent body established as part of Quality First, recently published a new report,
Strategies for Improving the Quality of Long-Term Care, that offers answers to questions about quality, including: What are the important areas of concern for quality in long-term care? What is the status of the quality of long-term care? What are the pros and cons of various strategies to improve the quality of long-term care? Take the Next Step on the Pathway to Greatness
Apply for AAHSA and LarsonAllen's "Pathways to Greatness" Recognition Program by June 15. This program is designed to honor great aging-services organizations and use their expertise to develop a framework others can use in their work for older adults. All members who provide multiple levels of services and programs for older adults on one campus and are AAHSA Quality First Covenant signers are encouraged to apply. All Covenant signers who submit applications will receive a review and analysis of their application and feedback from the review panel with a critique and comparison of their organization to top performers and median performers. The Administration on Aging (AOA) is hosting three free Webinars on June 6, 13 and 20 from 1 to 3 p.m. Eastern Time where you can find out how your organization can help seniors at home prepare for an emergency. AoA Announces National Alzheimer's Call Center Grant
AAHSA members that offer services in multiple parts of the country are encouraged to apply for an AoA grant to manage a National Alzheimer's Call Center. The grant recipient would use the funding, $963,500 per year for three years, to manage a call center to offer information, referrals, consultation and advice on aging issues for persons with Alzheimer's disease and their caregivers. Grantees must cover at least 25 percent of the total program costs from non-federal cash or in-kind resources. Applications must be submitted by June 29. Contact: Peter Notarstefano, (202) 508-9406.

Summit to Explore New Health IT Information and Opportunities
What's the role of health information technology (HIT) in your work? Find out at the third annual Long-Term Care Health IT Summit on June 20-21 in Chicago.
