New Congress Offers New Advocacy Opportunities
Our work to "tell our story" to the new Congress begins this week. The 63 new legislators and the new Congressional leadership present new opportunities for us to help create policies that support the future of aging services. During this Congress, we will advocate for a more rational and equitable aging-services financing system, person-centered care management, home-centered care, culture transformation and opportunities to advance technology's role in your work. These efforts will begin with the new Congress' work to finalize the fiscal 2007 budget. Together, we can ensure that your legislators understand the value of funding programs that serve seniors and those who care for them. Visit our Web site to find tools you can use to help us win this fight for our field. Contact: Marsha Greenfield, (202) 508-9488.

Does Your HUD Subsidy and Rental Income Cover Costs?
Help us tell legislators and HUD officials the answer. Please complete this survey by Jan. 8. We'll use the responses to help Congress and HUD evaluate affordable housing operators' operating costs versus their income and how well existing rent increase mechanisms and inflation factors cover these costs. This information can help make the case for additional funding. Contact: Colleen Bloom, (202) 508-9483
