Recognize Your Nurse Leader
AAHSA's Institute for the Future of Aging Services (IFAS) is now accepting nominations for the 2nd Annual Joan Anne McHugh Award for Leadership in Long-term Care Nursing. This award recognizes nurses who provide excellent clinical care, while demonstrating leadership and a commitment to the field of long-term care nursing. Nurses working for AAHSA-member organizations and meeting other eligibility criteria may be nominated. The winner receives a $500 personal and $1,000 professional development award and national recognition at AAHSA's 2007 Annual Meeting & Exposition in Orlando. Register Now for CMS' NPI Compliance Roundtable on April 18
On April 18 from 2:30 to 4 p.m., Eastern Time, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will host a toll-free national roundtable on the new National Provider Identifier (NPI) Compliance Contingency Guidance. CMS Releases New Information on NPI Compliance Contingency Guidance
For health care plans and providers that do not receive their NPI by May 23, CMS has posted new frequently-asked-questions about the NPI Compliance Contingency Guidance. Tell Us the State of Seniors Housing
In cooperation with the American Seniors Housing Association and National Investment Center, AAHSA is participating in a survey of senior housing members. Those members who are independent living communities, assisted living residences, Alzheimer's care facilities and CCRC's that have been open for two years are encouraged to participate. Eligible facilities should receive an e-mail from Steve Maag, AAHSA's director of assisted living and continuing care, this week with a link to the survey Web site. Presidential Candidate Works Shift at AAHSA Member
Presidential candidate John Edwards recently spent a morning working a shift as a direct care worker at the Sarah Neuman Center for Healthcare and Rehabilitation, a New York AAHSA member in Mamaroneck, N.Y. Edwards spent his shift shadowing a veteran worker and helped her with everything from waking up residents to giving one man his morning shave.
