AAHSA Members to “Live Your Story” at Annual Meeting in Orlando Wiesel, Poitier and Cosby Headline Event
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging’s (AAHSA) 2007 Annual Meeting & Exposition will offer more than 200 education sessions focused on helping aging-services providers continue to fulfill their commitment as not-for-profit organizations to make America a better place to grow old.
The AAHSA event, held from Oct. 21-24 at Orlando’s Orange County Convention Center, is themed “Live Your Story.” More than 7,000 aging-services providers, researchers, educators and business partners will choose from over 200 comprehensive sessions and view 600 aging-services vendor and supplier exhibits that can help them do just this.
“AAHSA’s annual meeting and exposition is an unrivaled learning opportunity for today’s aging-services professional,” said Larry Minnix, AAHSA president and CEO. “Living your story means focusing on fulfilling your organization’s mission and transforming to meet your community’s needs. Our conference provides offers attendees innovative ideas and best practices they need to strengthen their role as ethical and accountable organizations committed to putting Quality First in their work for older adults.”
Each of the conference’s general sessions will feature keynote speakers who will discuss the conference’s theme:
- A Life of Conscience: Elie Weisel, author and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize; 1 p.m., Sun., Oct. 21
- A Life of Community: Claire Gaudiani, professor and author, The Greater Good, 8 a.m., Mon., Oct. 22
- A Life of Integrity: Sidney Poitier, actor and author, The Measure of a Man, 8 a.m., Tues., Oct. 23
- A Life of Legacy: Jerry Friedman, photographer and founder, Earth’s Elders, and the children of AAHSA’s Annual Meeting, 8 a.m., Wed., Oct. 24
Comedian Bill Cosby will perform for attendees on Monday night.
