"Innovation Meets Action" at AAHSA Conference in March

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging's 2007 (AAHSA) Future of Aging Services Conference, March 19-21 at the Marriot Wardman Park in Washington, D.C., will offer more than education 25 sessions designed to help attendees become the provider of choice in their communities as well as entire day of sessions about the value of embracing technology to transform aging services.

This year, the conference’s theme is "Innovation Meets Action," and the education programs are focused on helping participants transform new ideas, work in partnerships and implement practical strategies to create the future of aging services. The National Adult Day Services Association (NADSA) will also host its annual public policy institute during the conference. The institute will include education sessions on advancing adult day services and improving state policies that affect adult day services.

On Monday, March 19, Chris Matthews, a renowned journalist and political commentator, will open the conference with his "inside the beltway" insights about how aging-services professional can make a difference with policy makers on issues affecting their work. Attendees will then take these lessons to Capitol Hill on Tuesday when they meet in person with their legislators.

"At this conference, aging-services professionals will learn the value of commitment, collaboration and creativity in their work for older adults," said Larry Minnix, AAHSA president & CEO. "We will prepare providers to understand and confront impending uncertainties so they can create their future of aging services."

For the first time, the AAHSA Leadership Summit will immediately precede the Future of Aging Services Conference. The Leadership Summit, to be held on Sunday, March 18, will feature author and lecturer Jim Kouzes, who will share his lessons learned about leadership from more than 20 years of original research.
