AAHSA CEO to Lead Aging-Services Coalition
Larry Minnix, President and CEO of the American Association of Homes and Services for the Agenda (AAHSA) recently accepted the role as chair of the Leadership Council of Aging Organizations (LCAO).
Founded in 1978, the LCAO brings together more than 50 nonprofit organizations concerned with the well-being of America's older population and committed to representing their interests among policymakers. Other members of the coalition’s executive committee include AARP, Alliance for Retired Americans, National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare and the National Council on the Aging Inc.
The coalition’s legislative agenda is divided into five areas focused on issues and legislation that affect the country’s older adults. These issues, ranging from Medicaid funding in the 2007 fiscal year budget to support of programs funded in the Older Americas Act, are the LCAO’s policy priorities.
“I am honored to serve as chair of this important coalition for the next year,” Minnix said. “I hope to combine our aggressive policy agenda with the knowledge and resources of LCAO members to ensure that all of America’s seniors have a voice in their nation’s capitol.”
