FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BROOKLYN, N.Y., July 17, 2007 - New York Congregational Nursing Center (NYCNC) celebrated the Tenth Anniversary with an evening "Barbeque With the Stars." Two hundred people gathered at New York Congregational Nursing Center's campus patio to celebrate this momentous occasion. Mr. James Waechter, Board Member was Master of Ceremonies. As Marty Markowitz, Brooklyn Borough President proclaimed, "I pay tribute to one of the most respected healthcare institutions and salute, commend the dedicated staff of New York Congregational Nursing Center for their commitment to providing support to the older citizens of our borough. The New York Congregational Home For The Aged (NYCHFA) was named to acknowledge the history and early good works of the Congregational Churches. For more than 80 years, the historic New York Congregational Home for the Aged provided a safe home for the frail elderly from all parts of New York City. Designed in 1911 as a retirement residence and then converted to a "nursing home" in the 1970s, In 1997, the newly constructed New York Congregational Nursing Center opened its doors on the same campus providing compassionate, individual and professional care in a culturally diverse, nurturing, and modern environment; while promoting each resident's strengths, independence, self-determination, spirituality, and growth. As part of the festivities, Mr. Kendall Christiansen was honored for 15 years as Chairperson of the Board of Directors. Kendall served as Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the New York Congregational Home for the Aged since 1992. From 1994 - 1997 Mr. Christiansen oversaw the development , financing, and construction of the New York Congregational Nursing Center. Ms. Celia Zuckerman, President and CEO of NYCNC stated that "It was interesting to learn about the history of the NYCHFA and NYCNC. NYCNC is an important part of the fabric of the East Flatbush community due to the vision and fortitude of the Congregational Churches and all those who contributed to the success of NYCNC."

New York Congregational Nursing Center is a 200-bed, nationally and state award-winning skilled nursing facility located at 135 Linden Boulevard, Brooklyn, NY. The Nursing Center provides short-term care for patients with complex medical needs who require rehabilitation therapy before going home and long-term care for residents seeking skilled services while living in a stimulating and caring environment. Also located on the campus at 123 Linden Boulevard, the Center for Community Life offers renovated program and office space at below market rent for non-profit entities. The New York Congregational Long Term Home Health Care Program is located in the CCL and in January began serving the needs of those who require skilled nursing care but elect to remain in their homes.
