La Verne - July 12, 2007 marked the 25th anniversary of service for Mr. Charles E. "Chuck" Cable, President and Chief Executive Officer at Hillcrest, a remarkable retirement community in La Verne. A native of Tacoma, Washington, Mr. Cable came to Hillcrest with several years of hospital administration experience, including Covina Valley Community Hospital in West Covina. Chuck graduated from the University of La Verne with a B.A. degree in business and economics and a Master of Public Health Degree in Hospital Administration from UCLA. He is a Certified Healthcare Executive and Diplomate with the American College of Healthcare Executives.
The Hillcrest management planned a surprise party for Chuck which included a proclamation from the Mayor of La Verne Jon Blickenstaff, a slide show highlighting Chuck's leadership and accomplishments during his tenure at Hillcrest, gifts, and comments from staff, residents and both current and past board chairs (Lowell Brubaker and Dick Hart, respectively). Chuck's family and close friends joined the over 200 residents and staff that attended this gala event.
The program emphasized Chuck's love for Hillcrest, his commitment and service to the residents and associates, and the many accomplishments achieved over the past 25 years.
Chuck does not limit his service to the community of Hillcrest. He is currently serving on several boards of directors. Those in the long-term care field include GuardianComp, Inc. (workers compensation insurance for 27 not-for-profit senior services organizations in California) and the Institute to Transform Senior Living (IT'S LIFE!). Locally Chuck serves on the board for the American Red Cross, San Gabriel Pomona Valley Chapter, Employers Group Inland Empire Regional Advisory Board, and the Fairplex Child Development Center.
Chuck's committee service includes American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging Faith-Based Cabinet and Aging Services of California Bylaws Committee, Planning Committee and Public Policy Committee. Locally his committee service includes the Audit Committee and Property Task Force Committee for the Red Cross, the La Verne Community Committee for the Fairplex, and the Finance Committee for the Fairplex Child Development Center.
Chuck is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Rotary Club of La Verne/District 5300 Rotary International, the University Club of Claremont and the President's Dinner Steering Committee for the University of La Verne.
Chuck and his wife Vicky reside in Claremont and have three children and one grandchild.
Hillcrest, a Continuing Care Retirement Community with 400 residents, has been a part of and served the community of La Verne for 58 years. Hillcrest was incorporated in 1947 and began serving seniors in 1949.
