Q: What has changed about AAHSA's Group Purchasing Program?
A: Based on
your input from the member survey, we saw that we needed to change.
We listened to you! AAHSA has partnered with MedAssets Supply Chain Systems to offer additional
group purchasing opportunities and
greater savings to members. The AAHSA-Med Assets Group Purchasing
Organization now offers you more than
400 manufacturer and distributor contracts at discounted prices.
We now have the largest buying pool not-for-profit aging-services providers.
Q: Why MedAssets?
A: Over the last eight months, AAHSA explored developing a partnership with
several national Group Purchasing Organizations. We chose MedAssets because the company's buying power,
focus on long-term care and an infrastructure that can support the AAHSA membership.
Q: What will AAHSA Members need to do to participate in the Program?
A: Those members already enrolled in the AAHSA GPO, either through a
co-branded or regular enrollment form, can start accessing the AAHSA and MedAssets contracts immediately.
This does not commit you to use the program but does allow you access if you choose.
Members that are not enrolled will need to sign a Participation Agreement for the AAHSA and MedAssets

Q: When placing an order, why is it important to declare the AAHSA and MedAssets Group Purchasing Program, as your GPO of choice with the vendors?
A: Simply put, so that you receive our pricing. Because of the power of the buying
community AAHSA members represent, you'll receive aggressive discounts through our program. Also,
you may belong to another GPO, but in order to get our prices you need to tell the vendor that your
purchases run through our program. You might be asked to sign a Letter of Participation with some of
the contracts you wish to use. This is required by the vendor to assure you are assigned to the correct
contract pricing. Lastly, AAHSA and your state association receive revenue on your purchase, which keeps down your dues dollars.
Can a member belong to more than one GPO?
A: Yes. Our program is not exclusive. You can belong to more than one GPO.
We're confident though that our prices are close to unbeatable, thanks in large part to you!
As part of more than 7,000 buyers, The Power of Community has come to the Marketplace! Oh,
and we should also give credit to the contract negotiators, they have something to do with
the great prices and variety of contracts.
Q: Can a member access part of the vendor portfolio and not the whole program?
A: Yes. You can access as many or as few contracts as you need. You just need to make
sure you are enrolled, so that you can start accessing immediately.
Q: Do you have contracts for Assisted Living, CCRCs, Housing, Independent Living, HCBS, Skilled Nursing?
A: We can proudly say that we have vendors who can service
all of you. And, the
beauty of our newer, stronger program is that if there IS something missing, let
us know and we can go out and search for a possible vending partner.
